In 1840 the good ship Portenia first arrived at the Clutha mouth docking in Port Molyneux. On board were a group of hardy land prospectors and he first agricultural settlers in the region. Port Molyneux became a bustling coastal village until the mighty flood of 1878 when the town was bliterated and the landscape changed forever. This IPA pays tribute to those early prospectors who despite facing huge adversity managed to carve out a future for the settlers in the rugged Catlins region.
